Spouse Education

Up to $6,000 over 12 months for education is available to spouses of active duty Army service members stationed at Fort Benning.

The Career Advancement Account MilSpouse program helps spouses of service members obtain certification and credentials in high-demand, high-growth, portable careers.

The program, started by the Department of Labor and the Department of Defense and administered by the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, provides flexible education funding accounts that pay for tuition, fees, books (optional), credentialing and licensing fees which lead to a certificate, diploma, degree or license/certification

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a spouse of an active duty Army or other service member stationed at Fort Benning
  • Reside in Columbus, Phenix City, Fort Mitchell, Fort Benning or surrounding area
  • Have a high school diploma, GED or some post-secondary education and require CAA in order to obtain or retain a credential, certification or license (master’s degree programs will not be considered)
  • Be enrolled in an accredited institution working toward an approved targeted career field program that can be completed within 24 months

Interested spouses must attend an orientation session to find out more. Sessions are held each Tuesday or Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and each Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Soldier's Plaza, #2611 on Fort Benning’s Main Post. Sessions are informal and children are welcome. Please bring your military ID.
